The Age of Conversation

Last week I wrapped up my chapter of The Age of Conversation, swallowed hard, and sent it on to the great blogging mavens, Drew and Gavin. Hopefully my clumsy attempt at writing won't bring the quality of the book down too much, as the proceeds from the sale will be donated to the charity for children, Variety.

The name of my chapter is "Getting Past the Conversation Bottleneck." I'll post a link when it's up for sale and invite you to discuss anything within it here. I'll also do my best to keep track of the discussions about the various chapters as they occur and give you links to some of the more interesting ones.

For your enjoyment, here is the entire list of authors. - Cam Beck

I was so nervous to send in my chapter as well. We might be writing on fairly similar subjects (though not identical, thank goodness). My piece is called Face-to-Avatar. I'm quite excited to read your description/definition of the "bottleneck" and your conclusions on the subject.

Cam, I was a bit nervous to send in my chapter as well. I've been writing for ages but only blogging for about 6 months. One of the great things about this project, though, is the diversity of the contributors. I'm looking forward to reading your submission.

Don't worry, Cam; if mine doesn't send them running screaming into the night, then yours is probably safe!

Can't wait to see the finished product, though...

Hey, this is actually kind of amusing. People who write every day getting nervous about what a one-pager will look like compared with that of their much-admired colleagues.

Uh, yeah, me too.

Am really looking forward to the finished product and exceedingly proud to be a part of the group.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who wanted to take back my chapter after I sent it in! I think we can be our own worst critic at times, so I am sure our chapters are all going to rock! I look forward to seeing all the other chapters. Thanks for highlighting the ebook, Cam!

Cam:

Fantastic idea about the bottleneck. Here's my take on seeing yourself too closely: you take yourself for granted. We all do. We tend to filter and discard ideas before we give them room to breathe. Want to know what that oxygen is? Conversation -- you go it! Looking forward to reading you all.

Hey Cam,

You mean the bottleneck is how our throats felt when we clicked on the "send" button, right? LOL!

More seriously, I like this appropriate metaphor and can't wait to read your take on "the Age of Conversation".
