Less is More
Last night my wife and I went to go see I Am Legend. Now, I know what you're thinking, "Wow, John, last night was Monday, you must be living in the fast lane to go see a movie outside of Friday or Saturday." To which I reply, "I know, faithful reader, I know."
I think I started seeing trailers for the movie back in the summer and it quickly raised my intrigue. I'm a sucker for mass chaos, military strikes and fear of the unknown, so this movie had three check marks in my book. I think the main reason that I wanted to see the film was that the trailer gave me enough that I really wanted more. Take a look for yourself.
What Warner Bros does really well is that they don't play their cards until you actually see the movie. Less is actually more in that they don't let you see what is keeping Will Smith company in the trailer. This tactic reminds me of the Microsoft iPod packaging spoof that reminds all of us that white space is not always a bad thing. In fact, it can often help your product stand out and break through the clutter. - John Herrington
*For those of you wondering, I Am Legend is outstanding and worth the money to see it in a theater.
I've been meaning to watch I am Legend ever since I saw the trailer as well. Actually, this one is already the third version movie of the original sci-fi novel. I found that piece of information from http://www.froodee.com/announcements/a-legend-is-coming/ I'm glad to read that so many bloggers think that the movie is worth the money.

Glad you enjoyed the movie, but I thought it was boring. I found myself squirming in my seat and looking at my watch -- when will this end? The special effects were great and it was fun to see NY City desserted and overgrown with weeds. But the story itself seemed, to me at least, pointless and shallow. I was disappointed big-time.

Jay - my brother-in-law also informed me of the fact that this is an adaptation of the book which has an interesting twist at the end that the movie doesn't. You can see it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Am_Legend
David - I agree that the special effects were great. The only thing that I've heard people differ opinions on so far is the ending.

Hi Cam, I'm in your company because I find going to the movies in the middle of the week quite refreshing. Besides I avoid crowded theaters.
Less is more really works well for that!
Thanks for the short review. Think I'll put this one on a must see list.

Hi Robyn - It was funny because when I went to buy a drink there weren't any lines nor was there a ticket-taker in sight. I was quite confused at the lack of theater presence until I snapped out of it.
